Gisela JOÃO is one of Portugal’s most powerful voices – authentic and deeply expressive. Aurēlija ŠIMKUS captivates audiences not only in Latvia but across Europe and has received numerous prestigious international awards, while the remarkably talented conductor Rui Miguel MARQUES has already worked with world-class orchestras at the age of just twenty-two.
Dvořák’s Carnival Overture evokes a solitary, contemplative wanderer who finds himself in a town at the heart of a carnival. It is an intoxicating celebration of life. De Falla’s emotionally charged suites stir the imagination with passionate Andalusian motifs and a vibrant fandango. Liszt’s Rhapsodie espagnole, one of the composer’s best-known works, draws inspiration from traditional Spanish folk music and demands both virtuosity and elegance. And the poignant music of fado speaks for itself.
