For thirty years, KREMERATA BALTICA has stood for excellence, creativity, courage and a constant flow of new ideas, continually exploring what lies at the heart of music – the story of the world and of ourselves.
Founded in 1997 by the world-renowned violinist Gidon Kremer, the orchestra brought together the brightest young musicians from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia to create an ensemble whose artistic language knows no boundaries, bringing the brilliance and refinement of Baltic music-making to audiences around the world. Today, KREMERATA BALTICA is one of Europe’s most internationally acclaimed chamber orchestras, having performed in more than 50 countries, given over a thousand concerts and received prestigious international awards for its recordings and interpretations.
This is a special season – KREMERATA BALTICA marks its 30th anniversary, while we also celebrate the 80th birthday of its founder, artistic director and guiding inspiration, Gidon Kremer. The orchestra will celebrate these milestones both in Latvia and around the world. It is an opportunity to look back on three decades of building a unique musical community – true to its artistic convictions and always open to new ideas.
Cēsis holds a special place in the musicians’ hearts. Always warmly welcomed here, KREMERATA BALTICA and Maestro Gidon Kremer invite audiences to join them for a special anniversary celebration.
The concert programme reflects KREMERATA BALTICA’s broad musical horizons, featuring music by Gustav Mahler, Ludwig van Beethoven and Astor Piazzolla, alongside, as always, music from the Baltic states – works by three young composers: Jēkabs Jančevskis (Latvia), Alisson Kruusmaa (Estonia) and Andrius Žlabys (Lithuania).
Preschool-age children will not be admitted to the concert.
